With good luck and Pavlenka: Werder continues to expand the home series and defeated Frankfurt 2: 1.

The good news: Werder remains unbeaten by the 2: 1 (1: 0) against Frankfurt under Florian Kohfeldt in the Weserstadion. In the league it is the sixth victory of the last eight games. The even better news: Victory means a very big step towards relegation. For the audience, the game was entertaining over long distances and extremely entertaining. The lead was Zlatko Junuzovic, Frankfurt's Jovic equalized. The decision fell on Junuzovic's cross, as Hradecky slid a header from Abraham's fingers into the goal.

Kohfeldt had switched to two positions against Frankfurt. Junuzovic replaced Florian Kainz in the starting XI. And for Milos Veljkovic Sebastian Langkamp had to go back to the bench. There was also a tactical change: instead of a quintet chain, as in the 3-1 win in Augsburg, Kohfeldt played in the Weserstadion against Frankfurt again in the 4-3-3 system.

It took four minutes, then it burned for the first time - at Werder. Initiated by a missed pass Philipp Bargfredes, Frankfurt countered over Rebic - Boateng's final pass, however, did not arrive. Shortly after a shot of Wolf, the Pavlenka parried.

Werder began to behave slowly and took a few minutes to sort himself out. But then it quickly became dangerous. After a combination between Kruse and Junuzovic, Augustinsson got the ball on the left wing. His sharp cross deflected Frankfurt goalkeeper Hradecky only with difficulty (6th minute). Shortly thereafter, Belfodil prevailed in the right-hand penalty in a duel against Russ, his cross told Abraham to the corner.

It quickly became clear that both teams played aggressively for victory. Neither Werder nor Frankfurt lurked on counter chances, but took even the initiative. Thus, in bright sunshine early in the Weserstadion a lively game with opportunities developed on both sides.

Accordingly, it was not long before the next chance. A long ball from the Veljkovic put Delaney head on Belfodil, who also failed header from five meters to Hradecky (17.). Then it was Frankfurt's turn again. A sharp wolf flank clarified Gebre Selassie just before Rebic, who was waiting for the second post (23.).

Two minutes later it became bitter for Werder. Ludwig Augustinsson had injured from the square, for him Marco Friedl came as a left-back on the court.

Before the goal it worked better for Werder, only a short time later the 1: 0 lead fell. After a cross from Delaney pushed Junuzovic the ball with links to the goal, Hasebe falsely fakes off (25). The hit is the second in the current season for Junuzovic. And his seventh goal in the last six games. In the second half, Werder's captain shows that he can still play an important role.

The hit did not change the statics of the game, Frankfurt continued to play offensively. Shortly thereafter, Jiri Pavlenka had to save twice in dire need. First he parried a shot from Boateng, then the extra margin of Wolf (37).

After the break, the same picture, both teams immediately sought the offensive again. First Werder with a chance, a cross brought Belfodil with the shin on the gate, Hradecky had no problem with that (47.).

Then Frankfurt struck. An unnecessary ball loss Gebre Selassies in the penalty area Eintracht followed by a clean counterattack. Fabian served Boateng, who hit the ball with a hoe on Jovic - and met by Seitfallzieher to compensate (53.). A hit that was not undeserved, but avoidable. Just a minute later Jovic missed the chance to lead in the duel against Pavlenka.

After that, the air was a bit out. It seemed as if both teams would suddenly want to avoid defeat instead. Thus, the winning goal sprang from a curious combination. A cross Junuzovic 'Frankfurt captain Abraham extended his own goal, Hradecky let the ball slide through the fingers into the net (79) - 2-1 for Werder.

Conclusion: A very important victory to keep the class as fast as possible. That should soon be done mathematically. Junuzovic has shown with two goals that he remains important. And Werder continues to play attractive offensive football that should please most fans.
